To estimate an appropriate level of stock grazing, you will need to know:

  • which habitats occur in your woodland
  • the location and extent of each habitat
  • the key biodiversity and /or cultural heritage features of each habitat

This section will help you with these steps. You will then be able to complete section 3 of your woodland grazing plan. Later you will also need to estimate the forage potential of each habitat. This is covered in Section 6 of the Toolbox.
